STUDENT SUCCESS STORY

Sephira

Primary 6 · Math & Science

From stressful study sessions to looking forward to class.

Math word problems and fractions used to feel stressful for Sephira. Through games, supportive teachers and classmates, she found a way to enjoy learning. Her mum noticed better focus and improving results, while Sephira grew more confident tackling questions.

Progress shared by Sephira and her mum in their September 2026 interview.

01 / THE STARTING POINT

What felt difficult

Sephira found Math stressful, especially word problems and fractions. Remembering what she had learnt was difficult, and a previous class moved too quickly for her to keep up. Her mum found that pushing harder could make her go blank, so she looked for an approach that suited Sephira. Science open-ended questions also felt difficult to understand and answer.

02 / THE LEARNING JOURNEY

Finding a way forward

Ottodot combined learning games with teacher guidance and a classroom where Sephira could ask questions and work with friends. In Math, she learnt to annotate important words and numbers, and return to difficult exam questions after completing others. In Science, games helped her remember concepts such as energy, while CER—claim, evidence and reasoning—gave her a step-by-step way to explain answers using the question and graphs.

03 / THE PROGRESS

What changed along the way

Her mum noticed the change in motivation before the results arrived: Sephira remembered her lesson times and prepared her own device without being pushed. She paid more attention, and her mum reported that her results had improved from borderline passes. Sephira said she felt more confident and could recall ideas from the games and her teachers during exams. Learning had become something she wanted to take part in.

She can tell me the time that the class is going to start. She’s the one on schedule. I do not have to push her. That’s the best part. … The whole setup, she will prepare herself. … Before the results even came out, it was the excitement—she’s looking forward to the class itself.
