Finding a way forward

Learning through play was already familiar to the family, from block games to board games. His mum felt that learning something while playing was useful and suited her children. She also appreciated that the Ottodot teacher completed the lesson without rushing to finish as class time ran out.

After Jacob joined the classes, his mum reports that he improved by 10–20 marks. She describes this as an improvement rather than a finished journey, and hopes he will continue with the classes and make further progress.

“I think for my youngest son, he’s able to do the assessment. But for Jacob, he finds it a chore, a hassle. He’s reluctant. Probably my for my kids. They are not those bookworm kind. So they learn through sensory experiences or visuals. That’s how they relate. While playing, they get to learn something which I think is useful. Since young, they always learn through playing, block games or board games. So it works for my kids.”
